The Challenge: "T." had developed severe wear on all of his teeth. This wear had left all of the teeth very short. This is what I call a cross-roads situation. We had reached a cross-roads in that, if we do not fix the problem now while we have some tooth structure to work with, we will not have any teeth left to work with in the future. At that point, extractions and dentures are our only recourse. The Solution: In an effort to reduce the wear and change "T.'s" bite so he did not continue to damage and wear his teeth down to the level of his gums, I crowned every one of his upper and lower teeth.
This process was done in stages over a 6 month period of time. The back teeth were restored first to establish a comfortable, functional bite. Then I placed all ceramic crowns on the upper and lower front teeth to correct the severe wear and bring them forward to even out his smile. "T." says his new bite is comfortable and he is very happy with his new look.
Dr. Mahlin completed the last step of attaching an implant tooth yesterday. This was after a multi-month process of having four crowns attached over multiple visits.
