The Challenge: “C’s” concern was for the appearance of her smile. She had developed cavities in her front teeth and said she “hated to smile”. Her birthday was approaching and she wanted a quick and affordable way to look good for her party. The Solution: To remove the cavities, we numbed “C’s” front teeth, got rid of the cavities, and placed tooth colored (composite resin) fillings in her teeth. She is ecstatic with the result. Her father called me after the birthday party to thank me. He said those fillings made a remarkable difference, not only in “C’s” appearance, but also in her self confidence.
The approach here was not to change the entire look of “C’s” front teeth, but to blend the filling material to match her surrounding tooth structure. This had the benefit of conserving both tooth structure and finances. Bonding is an ideal solution in this case. It is fast, affordable and can generally be done comfortably without anesthetic, unless decay is present.
